Install Lexi, choose your shortcut, connect one app, and hand over your first task. Here's every step.
Go to the Lexi download page and choose your computer. Lexi runs on macOS and Windows. Use a recent version of macOS or Windows.
On macOS, open the downloaded file and drag Lexi into your Applications folder. On Windows, run the installer and follow the prompts. Open Lexi when the install finishes.
Sign in with your Lexi account, or create one if this is your first time. A small Lexi icon appears at the edge of your screen. That icon is your teammate, ready when you are.
Lexi asks you to pick a keyboard shortcut. This is how you bring Lexi up over any app, and you hold it to talk. Choose a combination you do not already use, then press it once to try it. You can change it later in Settings.
Illustration on macOS: the shortcut field says Press your shortcut, then records Option and Space. You save it and press it once to try it.
Illustration on Windows: the shortcut field says Press your shortcut, then records Ctrl and Space. You save it and press it once to try it.
Lexi works with Gmail and Google Workspace, Outlook and Microsoft 365, Slack, Notion and Zoom. Pick one to start. Email and calendar are a good first choice.
Select the app, sign in with your account for that app, and choose what Lexi may do there. New connections start with read access only. Sending, sharing, deleting and anything that leaves your computer always ask for your approval first. You can turn any permission on or off, and you can change your mind later.
Illustration: you connect Gmail and Google Workspace. Read access is on, you turn on Act, and send, share and delete stay locked to Asks first.
Press your shortcut, then type your request. Or hold the shortcut (or the mic button) and speak, then release to send. This is push-to-talk: Lexi listens only while you hold your shortcut or the mic button.
Try something small and clear:
If a task needs context, share it. Pick a window, a document or an email thread to include. Lexi never watches your screen in the background. It works from what you choose.
Before Lexi acts, it shows the steps it plans to take. Read them. You can edit the request, remove a step or cancel. Steps that only read information run on their own. Steps that send, share, delete or leave your computer wait for you.
Illustration: you ask "Help me prepare for my 2 p.m. project review." Lexi shows a four step plan. Three steps only read information and run on their own. Saving the brief to Google Docs waits for you.
Select Approve on anything that needs your OK. Lexi finishes the work and shows you the result, with the sources it used, so you can check them. A summary tells you what changed.
Every action Lexi takes appears in your activity log, with what it did, when and where. Open it any time to see the full record. Where an action can be undone, you will see an Undo option next to it.
Illustration: the project review brief waits for your OK, with its sources. You select Approve, a summary says the brief was created in Google Docs, and a new activity log row appears: Brief created, just now, with an Undo option.
Lexi can remember preferences you approve, such as how you like replies worded. Open Settings, then Memory, to view, edit or delete anything it remembers. You can also turn memory off completely.
